Nelly Corbel, Founder & CEO of Global Civic Consulting

is an expert in civic education with 15 years of progressive experience at the international level in academia, governance, and civil society. She specializes especially in integrating and advancing civics in higher education, and in promoting citizenship, engagement, and sustainable societies. She is a co-founder of the Lazord Foundation, the founding Secretary-General of Networking Arab Civic Education, and a member of the board of advisors for the German Federal Agency for Civic Education. Nelly has a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Civil Society Development from the American University in Paris as well as a certificate of completion for the Executive Program: Strategic Management for Leaders of Nonprofits from Harvard Kennedy School.

Ivy Vo, Program Manager

Her primary areas of interest and expertise are international higher education, active citizenship, youth development and engagement, and cross-cultural and cross-sectoral collaboration and exchange. Before joining Global Civic Consulting in 2017, she worked in Student and Residential Life at NYU Paris for over seven years. Ivy has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University and a Master of Arts in French Literature from New York University. When she is not working, she enjoys volunteering with the Tufts University Alumni Association; she is currently chair of the Tufts Alumni Paris chapter and co-chair of the International Committee on the Tufts Alumni Council.

Lisa Sebold, Consultant & Program Coordinator

During her Middle East studies in Bonn, Cologne, and Amman, she began to expand her interest in bridging transcultural aspects and historical-political contexts on a practical level. In order to reflect on concepts for the long-term effects of civic participation and citizenship in civil society, she worked for the Federal Agency for Civic Education in Germany. Lisa is also involved in NACE (Network Arab Civic Education), which promotes exchange between Europe and the MENA region. She has experience in event & participant management as well as in public relations.

Hana Shahin, Research & Evaluation Specialist

is a community psychologist with a master’s degree from the American University in Cairo (AUC). She has over ten years of experience with youth development and cross-cultural understanding, and community development organizations. She is currently a Ph.D. student at Wichita State University and a freelance consultant in community psychology, organizational development, and capacity building. She has been a trainer and mentor for the Lazord Fellowship and worked on civic engagement and cultural projects with the John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement at AUC and the Goethe-Institut.
